Workplace Software and Skills is designed to flexibly support a range of courses covering computer literacy, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite applications. The textbook covers both hard and soft skills that are applicable to a broad range of academic majors and careers. Chapters combine studio learning and guided practice with scaffolded activities designed to reinforce a student’s ability to perform higher-order tasks independently. Workplace Software and Skills leverages complementary product features in spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and similar applications. Modules are designed for maximum flexibility by including both Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite applications, in order to best reflect the skills needed for today’s workforce. Authentic activities and real-world contexts develop a cumulative and thorough understanding, which reinforces the importance of cross-platform proficiency. Dr. Tammie Bolling is a tenured professor and holds the Computer Information Technology Chair position at Pellissippi State Community College (PSCC) in Knoxville Tennessee (USA). She is a 2022 Fulbright recipient to Atlantic Technological University in Ireland, where she will be guest lecturing in Digital Healthcare, Master of Research True Research, Big Data Analytics, BSc (Hons) Healthcare Innovations and Technology programs, consulting with various organizations, conducting research, and guest speaking at other universities in Ireland. Dr. Bolling is also a PSCC Mobile Fellow and an avid mobile technology researcher. She has previously designed various courses to be delivered via mobile technologies. Dr. Bolling constantly reviews and tests technologies to be used in a wide variety of instructional and business settings.
Tammie Bolling
Dr. Angela Mitchell is the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Wilmington College. She started teaching at WC in 2002. Angela was appointed Area Coordinator (equivalent to Department Chair) in 2004. Under her leadership, the department has made a good deal of progress over the last several years by streamlining our course offerings, increasing the rigor of the program, and preparing students for future careers through experiential learning. In 2010 she was recognized by the Greater Cincinnati Consortium of College and Universities for her teaching excellence. In July 2024, Angela left the classroom to move into administration as the Associate VPAA. She also serves as the advisor to Delta Omega Theta sorority. She is very active in the community serving on the Executive Board of Main Street Wilmington since 2012. Prior to Wilmington College, Angela spent 5 years as a senior research chemist in product development at Procter & Gamble. While at P&G, she spent a considerable amount of time in the manufacturing environment leading trials to test new processes and product formulations.
Angela Mitchell
Nyrobi Wheeler was born in Chicago, but raised in Galesburg, IL, and later in Peoria, IL. She received both her Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees from Roosevelt University in Chicago. She also is a graduate of Illinois Central College, where she received her Associate of Arts and Sciences degree in English and Spanish. Nyrobi’s professional background includes early childhood education and higher education. She is currently an online business management, leadership, and human resources professor at Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska as well as a professional tutor at Illinois Central College, where she specializes in English, Communication, and Business Management. She also teaches an online Introduction To Business course at Jesuit Worldwide Learning in Geneva, Switzerland. She has also been selected to freelance for the Academy of Mid Florida in Orlando, creating online courses and developing training for the college’s online MBA program. Nyrobi is also the Founder/CEO of Robi Resume & Writing Services, where she specializes in resume and LinkedIn profile writing, cover, thank you, and reference writing as well as book editing and development. She is a self-publishing author of several ebooks on career advice, self-care, and how to start a business. She is also a co-author of several anthologies on hair and workplace discrimination among Black Women. She is also a recent Senior Contributing Author of the textbook, Workplace Software and Skills through Rice University. She has also done presentations both in person and virtually with Roosevelt University (Chicago), Claremont Lincoln University (California), and IRock Development Solutions, LLC (Texas). She also writes and has written career-related articles for Roosevelt University, The Travelers Weekly, and Construction Beauty Magazine. In her spare time, Nyrobi enjoys watching classic shows and movies, doing word search puzzles, and creating courses.
