Dr. Carlo Dufour MD, Director Haematology Unit, IRCCS Giannina Gaslini, Genoa, Italy Center: IRCCS Giannina Gaslini Adress: Via Gerolamo Gaslini 5 16147 Genoa • Italy I achieved Specialization in Paediatrics and Haematology. Part of my degree training in haematology was at the Haematology Department of the Hammersmith Hospital, London, UK. I also achieved the degree of Master in Haematology at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School in London. I founded in Italy, and chaired for 9 years, the study group on Marrow Failure Syndromes within the framework of the AIEOP (Associazione Italiana Ematologia Pediatrica). My clinical activities covered all fields of paediatric haematology with a special focus on leukaemia and on bone marrow failure syndromes. Research activity was mainly centred on pathogenic mechanisms of marrow failures, on biochemical defects and on clinical outcome of large cohorts of patients with these rare diseases like Aplastic Anemia, Fanconi Anemia, Severe Congenital Neutropenia. I act as reviewers for the most important haematology journals and for research grants from International Societies. I also behave as international site visitor of research laboratories involved in marrow failure syndromes. In addition I was part of the commission for the attribution of professorship position in molecular medicine by the University of London. I authored or co-authored more than 120 publications on international indexed journals and haematology textbook chapters. I also acted as Co- Editor of a texbook on” Congenital and Acquired Bone marrow failure”, edited by Elsevier, that is in print.
