This open access book builds on the European Union’s (EU) Horizon 2020 project ‘Financial and Institutional Reforms for an Entrepreneurial Society’ (FIRES). The authors outline how Europe can move towards more inclusive, innovative and sustainable growth through reforms that will rekindle its entrepreneurial spirit. Niklas Elert defended his Ph.D. thesis "Economic Dynamism - Essays on firm entry and firm growth" in September 2014 at Örebro University. His research focuses on entrepreneurship and firm dynamics. He is the author of a book, Människoapans Utmaning (Timbro) (The Challenge of The Human Ape), which deals with the relationship between economic growth and the environment. At IFN he has co-authored two books about the reforms that the European Union should undertake to promote entrepreneurship and innovation. He has previously worked as an editorial writer at Expressen.
Niklas Elert
Magnus Henrekson completed his doctoral dissertation in 1990 at the University of Gothenburg. The dissertation dealt with empirical determinants of public sector growth. Apart from academiv merits he has experience from international banking (1981–83) and extensive involvement as advisor, lecturer and board member both in private industry and the public sector. From 2001 to 2009 he was Jacob Wallenberg Professor of Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics and is, since 2005, director of IFN.
