As professor of educational sciences I hold the chair of Educational Technology and Knowledge Management within the Faculty of Educational Sciences of University of Duisburg-Essen. I am directing the Learning Lab, a research and development unit working on projects for digital change in education. The Lab is organized in groups addressing the various sectors of secondary, higher, vocational, adult and corporate education. It is responsible for two online-master degree programs: Educational Media and Educational Leadership, and several certificate programs. We follow an approach of design-based research in education and cooperate with our university's Interdisciplinary Center of Educational Research, that comprises around 200 educational researchers of the different faculties of our university. I have authored the German textbook Mediendidaktik (5th Ed.) with the accompanying website mediendidaktik.info
Svenja Bedenlier is an assistant professor for e-learning in higher and adult education at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg. She previously worked as policy advisor for international affairs at FernUniversität in Hagen and was a reseach associate at the Institute of Education (Working group: Educational Technology) at University of Oldenburg. In that position, she was involved with research projects and teaching. With a background in educational science and gender studies, Svenja graduated from the University of Oldenburg, having also studied at Marmara University, Istanbul, Turkey for one year. In her doctoral studies, Svenja researched the effects of internationalization processes in higher education and their influences on academic faculty members.
