Dr. James A. Wise Position: Associate Professor of Biology, Undergraduate Laison Bio: Dr. James Wise earned and his Doctorate in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Illinois at Chicago; he earlier received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Macalester College, St. Paul, MN. Dr. Wise came to Hampton University in 1992 following 3 years of post-doctoral work at the Biotechnology Research Institute in Rockville, Maryland. His research interests include predator-prey dynamics in microbial microcosms and in the development of the use of protozoa in inquiry-based introductory biology laboratories. Dr. Wise teaches Immunology, Virology, Introduction to Biology lectures and labs and has also taught classes in cancer biology and research. Dr. Wise is a biology question reader for the Advanced Placement exam, and is a member and has twice been president of the Tidewater chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society.
