    Bio I am currently Professor and Chair of the Ophthalmology and Visual Science Program and Medical Director of the Singapore National Eye Center. I am concurrently Vice-Dean, Office of Clinical Sciences at the Duke-NUS Medical School, National University of Singapore. I was previously Executive Director of the Singapore Eye Research Institute, Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Melbourne, Australia. I balance clinical practice in ophthalmology, focusing on retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration, with a broad-based research program comprising epidemiological, clinical and translational studies of Asian eye diseases, and on the use of retinal imaging to predict disease risk. I have authored >1,000 peer-reviewed papers, including papers in the New England Journal of Medicine, the Lancet, JAMA, and Nature, given >300 invited plenary, symposium and named lectures, and received >US$50 million in grant funding.
